JOURNEY HIGHLIGHTS

NOTE:
Please note that this itinerary, including locations, performing artists, and schedule, is subject to change.

HAVANA | Join fellow SFJAZZ Leaders Circle members and SFJAZZ Collective member, Edward Simon, for a special and uniquely curated visit to Cuba. This members-only journey will be focused on studying and experiencing the roots of Afro-Cuban music with intimate visits and performances by leading Cuban musicians and educators in recording studios, private homes, and most prominent music clubs. We will also visit the two leading music schools in Havana for master classes led by Edward Simon in collaboration with student performances. Certainly, a highlight will be a trip to the city of Matanzas to experience the roots of rumba, which represents the direct line between Africa to what we now experience as Afro-Cuban jazz. The trip will include all accommodations, ground transportation, performances, and meals, plus there will be scheduled and optional visits to local historical destinations in Havana.
